This is the template you MUST use in your character application. You can add things if you want, change the display, but you MUST include EVERYTHING here.
: General Information :
Name: Severus Snape
Nickname(s): Snivellus, to himself he is the Half-Blood Prince
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Blood Status: Half-Blood
Family:
father: Tobias Snape. Currently unemployed.
mother: Eileen (Prince) Snape. Housewife.
Birthdate: January 9th, 1960
: Appearance :
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color: Black
Hair Style: Style? Don't make me laugh; Snape's hair is poorly cut, lanky and greasy
Height: 6'0''
Weight: 170lbs
Build: Scrawny, skinny 'like a plant that has been kept in the dark'
Clothing: Howarts uniform? His regular clothes are a bit... odd.
: Background :
Hometown: North of England
Personality: Sarcastic, cynical, haughty, pessimistic and generally not a nice person to be friends with, even for Slytherin standards. Then again, few people have attempted to befriend the 'oddball' – he is far easier to bully and belittle. Do not take this to mean that he is cowardly or weak however; to do so would be a grim miscalculation on your behalf, for even before he walked through the famous double doors of Hogwarts did he know more hexes than many of the older Slytherins.
He can be nice if he tries hard, especially to those who have gained his respect and trust. This is because Severus has had to learn to be a very defensive person, both physically and emotionally, and most of the time his problems arise when he says spiteful things without meaning them. These days it would take a lot to convince him you were simply being nice for the sake of being nice, rather than blackmailing him for future favours.
Of course, he struggles to be nice to those he would dub 'idiots'. Anyone of lesser intelligence than himself he has little patience for, and since he considers himself to be a very bright person – this means that practically everyone falls into this category. However, prove yourself a match for his wit in a manner that doesn’t verge on cruel or spiteful and you may just impress him. And that’s if you can keep the act up.
One aspect of his personality you may find strange is that he likes to mess about with things, find out how and why they are how they are, and if there is anything he can do to improve it. This has lead him to start experimenting with potions (which causes him to have to buy a new cauldron almost every year) and creating nasty spells to defend himself with. The latter have already been assigned targets, Severus is just waiting for the right time and place to test them.
Despite, on the offset, appearing to be a horrid person, Severus thinks of himself as extremely loyal, but only to those he deems worthy of such a commitment. Of course, he has learnt to not wear his heart on his sleeve, so to speak – so where his loyalties lie is anyone's guess. Many assumptions are made because the truth is not so easily uncovered when it comes to this young man, he keeps himself to himself.
History: Severus' home life was not a happy one – his father Tobias often turned violent against his mother, and as a young boy Snape often stayed in his room, listening to their arguments. At the time Lily Evans lived near to him, and the two developed an odd sort of friendship; possibly the best one Severus had ever had. Lily's ever increasing questions on the wizarding world sparked the young boy's enthusiasm, who's thirst to prove himself as something other than that 'odd kid' made him answer in great detail.
Later on, Severus was admitted to Hogwarts, but prior to learning any elementary magic he had already mastered more curses than many Slytherin seventh years. Once people learnt this it was natural that they became frightened and cautious around him, and instead of being impressed, his fellow house mates simply loathed him just the same as everyone else. He was different, he was strange and few people wanted to associate themselves with him. Thus Severus quickly fell to preferring solitude to company.
Immersing himself in dangerous and dark books he had picked up from pokey little shops from Knockturn alley, Snape furthered his knowledge of dark magic. But when he hadn't got his large nose between the pages of a book, he was desperately clinging onto the friendship Lily and he had once shared, although she did little to return his companionship.
This was thanks to the new friends she was making, most importantly four Gryffindor boys who dubbed themselves 'the Marauders'. These four quickly decided that they did not approve of Severus around Miss Evans, and quickly fell to tormenting him on a daily basis. Few people stood in to help him; those who did usually did so out of pity – which made the young Slytherin hate his 'rescuers' even more than his aggressors. For if it was one thing he had grown to loathe above the name calling and the taunting, it was pity.
Now, in his second to last year at Hogwarts, Severus is counting down the days until he leaves this place for good. His plans for the future however, have already, unfortunately, been made. He has fallen into the wrong circles and has been influenced in the wrong directions. Perhaps he will even be driven to leave the school before the year is through; the rumours about the Dark Lord ever increasing, those who have already been 'marked' will find it hard to stay. Of course, Severus believes that only those with loose tongues would get themselves into trouble, he knows how to protect himself.
