"Um.. okay then," Sirius said his face pure scarlet now and he punched Peter in the arm when he made fun of him. "Shut it!" He said and placed his hands in his pockets silently.
"Yeah I've got to get my books," Sirius murmured, when they had stopped. He took a few steps away from Remus and glided over to where Lily stood, and looked down at his feet and shuffled them a bit as he tried to let the red in his face die down.

"You know Snuffles you won't get any books standing outside," Remus smiled, and Peter looked over at him rubbing his arm from where Sirius had hit him. Whining to himself as he followed Remus. The werewolves eyes had lit up as he glared around at all the books, and he ditched his trunk on the ground at the entrance and rushed over to some New released books about Vampires. He picked some up and skimmed through them; while, Peter walked around gathering the books he had needed for this year.
"Hey Remmy Hey Remmy!" Peter squeaked happily coming up behind the slender male. Looking back at Peter he had been handed a book on Ancient Runes that he had been looking for.
"Ahh! Thanks Peter." He smiled happily putting the Vampire books back, and taking the Ancient Runes book from his small chubby friend.

Lily looked at Remus, who was fiddling through a book. She snatched it out of his hands.
"So you did need something." she said, her eyes twinkling now. She read the cover before giving it back, laughing a bit. Viewing the store, she went over to a section where they had books and books of charms. Smiling, she walked over to them and pulled out one of the books before flipping through it.

Remus had panicked a bit, but when Lily had given it back he sighed hugging it tightly. It wasn't that he needed the book it was more of a 'it caught my interest,' type of book, and it was his current fascination. Ancient Runes were so interesting to him, but he put it down telling himself he'd get a summer job next summer to buy the book. The odds of of him getting a Wizarding job with out graduating from Hogwarts yet.
"Aren't you going to get it?" Peter asked confused, and Remus smiled and shook his head no.
"I don't have the-- I'll get it later," he smiled.

Lily watched him carefully put the book down again and then frowned a bit. He had seemed to want the book extremely bad yet he had placed it back to it's normal position. Odd. But she continued skimming through her own book before placing it back.
She looked around the shop again, smiling because she loved books, oh yes, she loved them. She trailed her finger along the cover of a booked named Parry Hotter and it looked interesting but she decided not to take it out.

Peter looked over at Remus a bit worried, but pushed it off as nothing as he scurried away from the male. Meanwhile Remus had headed off into one of the small narrow corridors created by the enormous bookshelves. Leaning against one he had taken out the small empty pouch that had supposedly held Galleons, and quickly tucked it in between two books. After all it was better to tell the others that he must have lost the money instead of 'oh yeah I'm broke!'
"Sooo," James sounded next to Lily a grin plastered across his face as he looked down at her. "You know if you want I can buy you, your books." He offered with the same cocky expression. But hey anyone who had met James would know he's a cocky arrogant jack ass. Like Sirius, he had always started contest for no reason; Remus and Peter had assumed to it was to spice up life. "And then maybe we can go snog somewhere."

Lily had been startled as James spoked to her and in fact, she had jumped. She stared at him and shook her head, frowning.
"These books aren't a necessity so I'll have to decline that lovely offer of yours." she said politely. She had the money to but felt that she shouldn't waste it on things he didn't need.
Her frown had deepened as he had just asked said, "And then maybe we can go snog somewhere."
"I'm absolutely certain I don't want that." she said, shaking her head. Why was it that he had to ruin everything?

James took the rejection, and sighed dropping his head as he mopped off near Moony.
"What's wrong?" Remus asked him curiously, but all he did was grunt, which had made the other male sigh. "Rejection?" He asked patting James on the back as he nodded his head yes. "Don't worry some day you'll end up with her some day, call it a werewolves sense..." The comment had made James smiled and wrap an arm around his friends shoulder.
"I believe you've earned yourself a book Moony...how about that ancient ruins one!" He said excitedly and before the smaller male could protest he had been dragged out of the row and back to where the book had been. Quickly Prongs grabbed it and handed it to Remus.
"Lily do you hate James?" Peter asked from behind her. He had watched the whole thing, and he sure hated seeing his idol rejected so easily. "All the other girls love him, why do you hate him?"

Lily looked at Peter and hesitated before answering his question. She did have to think it through. It was one of those things that she didn't want to answer. But she gave in with a sigh.
"No Peter, I don't hate James. I really don't." Lily said, speaking more to the ground then to him, "Hate is an extremely strong word and I don't think I would ever hate someone. But, I must say, I think we've started off on the wrong foot." She looked at him as Peter spoke his last statement.
Once again, she hesitated before speaking. "I'm not like other girls I guess then." she quietly, "They like him because he's handsome and I'll give him that. But he's a show-off too and yes, all the girls seem to enjoy that. They'd kiss his feet if they didn't have enough self-control. But I guess I don't like that. I don't enjoy seeing others get hurt or jinxed at the expense of fun and laughter. I really don't. So...yeah." She spoke honestly, "But I promise you, I don't hate James Potter."

Remus sighed as James had finally let him go, and headed towards the counter asking the woman about all the books they had needed for the school year. Of course the tall skinny old witch had been more then happy to help a Hogwarts student. She had quickly placed down 1, 2, and 3 piles of required books for the classes they were taking. Of course the Marauders had been taking mostly the same classes! Remus might have had a one or two classes more then them, since he loved to study so much.
"Remmy c'mon give me the book!" James grinned snatched the book from his mates hand. "And this Ancient ruins book, oi only one set of those for me though!" He quickly commented not wanting to pay for Sirius' or Peter's books.

Peter bit his lip, mulling over what Lily had just said to him. "You know, I think that's why James likes you. Because you're not like other girls. But there's something you should know. He's not that bad, once you get to know him."
Peter said this as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, and to him, it was. All of the Maurauders were like that. Not that bad once you got to know them. Sure, they may seem like four boys intent on causing mischief and mayham at Hogwarts, but they always had each other's backs.
Peter around to find his friends, wondering where they had gotten two. Spotting them by the counter, he was about to go to them. But then he realized that would leave Lily alone. He may be a rat, but he definetely would not leave a girl alone.
"Shall we take a look and see what new books are out?" Peter bowed politely. He may have hated books in general, but there were a few that Peter really liked.

Lily pondered over what Peter said for a moment, opened her mouth, then shut it just as fast. It was true: Lily Evans was not like other girls. She was not one to tail Sirius or James like a puppy, bowing at their knees or kissing the ground they had walked upon. Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration but it made her point. She had never fallen for their careless flirtations or their obvious pranks because she knew better than that. She was smarter than that.
"I'm flattered, really I am. But I'm not sure it's going to be possible for me to return the same feelings James has toward me unless he starts growing up. Or at least caring about how others feel when he says or does the things he does." Lily said, kindly to Peter. "I'm sure he's not that bad. But I'm hesitant about trying to get to know him better.."
She looked around the bookshop again, seeing James buy Remus' books and smiled. He was a good friend. That was probably the best thing about James. She shook that thought out of her head quickly as Peter spoke again.
Lily shrugged and nodded, "Lets."

The woman had handed him a large bag to hold all his school books he had just bought, and handed Remus the Ancient Ruins book he had bought him. "OI! SIRIUS! PETER!" He shouted waving his arms in the air, "I'M NOT BUYING YOUR--"
"Shhh..." The witch behind the counter hissed, and James looked back at her and with a thingyy smile, before turning his back to her again.
"You know James it's just as easy to go up to them instead of shouting," he sighed hugging the book against his chest. Glaring over towards the area that Lily and Peter had been heading. They did come here to buy their books, and now they had them. Well James did, and the others were up on the counter waiting for everyone else to buy them. Though Sirius was nowhere in sight, which was strange since he always loved to be the center of attention.

A pale, thin hand slowly pushed open the wooden door to a seemingly empty bookstore. The door swung softly behind the boy, the bells tinkling merrily. He heard voices near the front desk. He didn't bother to see who they were. He pulled a crumpled piece of parchment out of the depths of his pocket, smoothing it out. He began to peruse the aisles, looking for the books listed on the parchment and any books that caught his eye. The books were easy enough to find. A thick pile of books were tucked under his frail arm as he made his way up to the desk, most of them schoolbooks, with the exception of one being a book on the Dark Arts. Severus Snape emerged from the shadows as he stepped into a pool of light cast by the swinging lamp over the desk. A plump woman sat behind it looking somewhat eager to rid herself of the group of people before her. Severus blanched as he recongnized James Potter and Remus Lupin. A cold sensation trickled down his body as his breath caught in his throat. He didn't see Sirius anywhere, but a little ways away from James and Remus, he saw Peter. And then his gaze fell upon Lily Evans. His eyes traveled across her fiery red hair, perfectly featured face, and her rather curvature body. His heart immediately started beating at a breakneck pace as his mind was flooded with thoughts of her. Thoughts of Lily. His love for her, his longing for her heart.... it far surpassed anything anybody else could possibly feel. His thought process was interuppted as his thoughts reverted back to James. His hand immediately flew to his wand. He clutched it tightly in its sheath, though he didn't remove it. Yet. He turned to the witch and paid for his books, hoping, praying that none of the Marauders felt inclined to bully him today.

"Well well well," James smiled as he looked at Severus who had now been standing beside him. "Look who we have here if it isn't none other then Snivellus." He grinned as he leaned forward purposely knocking the males books to the ground.
"James..." Remus sighed as he watched his action, though he didn't really say anything after that. Instead he stood there and opened his book pretending that he was too busy reading to notice what James was doing. Hey he had been happy just being their friends! No way was he going to tell them not to do something, especially since he would be staying with James until the school year would start.
