Maddie hesitated, but took Lily's hand and shook it lightly, before withdrawing it. Her eyes fell on the book in her hand. "Thank you," was all she could muster. She unzipped her bag and stored the book in there, as good as she could fit it; there was quite a lot of gum packages in there, including her favorite, Droobles' Best Blowing Gum. She zipped it back up and swung it over her shoulder. "Now I need Confronting the Faceless.." she whispered more to herself than anyone around her.

Peter had been silent for all this time, (Heh.. 'cause it's the board title.. get it?) but when he spotted the book up on the top shelf, he decided to do his good deed of the day.
"Oh, it's up there. Let me get it for you Maddie!" Peter immediatly grabbed a ladder, and climbed all the way up to the top, humming merrily to himself.
"Lily, Severous, do you guys need anything while I'm up here?"
Peter didn't mind being nice to Severous, as he tended to mostly leave him alone. Though he would often pretend that he hated him in front of Sirius and James. It was what friends did. (Because that makes sense XD)
As he was thinking about all this, Peter leaned back, perhaps too far back on a ladder. He fell to the ground, the ladder falling on top of him. He lay there, disoriented and trying to get his bearings.

"You're welcome." Lily said, smiling again to her and watched Peter climb the ladder, getting the book for Maddie.
"No, I don't need any--" she started but gasped as Peter feel to the grown. "Peter!" she shouted before, removing the ladder on top of him, "Are you alright?" she said, trying to help him stand. He had always been a tad careless and clumsy, not thinking before acting.

Maddie bit her lip again, and watched painfully as Peter fell. Her eyes flickered to Lily. She couldn't help but turn a bit pink in the face. It was her fault he was up there, after all. She stood next to Lily, concern and embarrassment in her eyes. "I can get it myself, thanks for the effort though."

"WORMTAIL!" Remus panicked as he watched his best friend fall to the ground. He tried to help Lily lift him up, and looked at the witch behind the counter who had also rushed over to help them. "Why'd you go off and do that Peter?" He asked worryingly since his friend hadnt said a single word to them so far. The witch seemed to wave at them to follow her, back over towards the counter.
~~
"I don't get it Sirius!" James shouted turning around to face his best mate. "What does Lily see in that grease headed death eater child!" He fumed balling his fist up as he looked back towards the store seeing them all gathered around something that he had no idea what it was. Though his attention had been turned back towards Sirius at once his face was red from anger, and his eyes had narrowed since they've encountered Snape. "And what was up with Moony?! Just because he's a Prefect now he tries to defend Snievllus!?"

"Well what do we have here? The Marauders out and about?" The words had been spoken sneeringly and bitterly as the ringing of bells stopped and the door that led into the Magical Menagerie slammed shut, Bellatrix Black just having stepped out of the shop with a scowl on her face at seeing James Potter and her beloved cousin, Sirius Black. In her opinion, Sirius was a disgrace to the family name, having been placed in Gryffindor when he rightfully belonged in Slytherin with her and the other purebloods. And his house placement only made her despise him even more.
The Siamese cat had been following closely at her heels, Bellatrix having set the carrier that the animal was in down on the ground, staring heatedly at the two Gryffindor boys. "Where are the other two?" she asked boredly, none too impressed that James and Sirius were by themselves and Remus Lupin and the little lump of a boy Peter Pettigrew were nowhere to be seen. "Helping that muggle-born Evans girl, no doubt," Bellatrix added in with a smug smirk, glancing towards the store where Lily Evans and Severus Snape were located in.

Sirius had been about to politely request the James shut-up when he heard it. His cousin. "Bella, dear. One of my favorite cousins." he said in an elegant manner, playing up on the overly-kind act. He slowly stood from the bench, pushing his feelings for Remus' actions aside. "And what if Peter and Remus are helping Miss Evans?" he asked, slight disgust lacing his voice. "It's not like you'll be stopping them," he added, narrowing his gray eyes to a glare.

Her dark eyes were harsh as she heard the comment that Sirius had thrown out, staring at him blatantly before a sarcastic smile came across her face and she drew her attention away from her darling cousin and towards his friend at his side, looking curiously at James as her gaze seemed to brighten a bit as if she had just come across an epiphany. "Oh that's right. I had almost forgotten," she began, looking at James and then her look turned from amusement to disgust. "You fancy the little Mudblood, don't you Potter?" she asked wryly.

"DON'T YOU DARE CALL HER THAT YOU SLYTHERIN SCUM!" James screamed, which evidently caught Remus attention in the store still hoisting Peter with Lily. "DON'T YOU EVER SAY THAT WORD IN FRONT OF ME AGAIN YOU BITCH!" He told her pulling out his wand and pointing it at the teenager’s throat.
"Lily...I'm sorry, but can you take care of Peter for me?" He asked before slipping away from the grasp he had on his friend and running outside; standing behind the fighting group. His arms folded across his chest, though when James had drawn his wand he was a bit shocked. Of course he hadn't heard a single thing she said before, but he knew it had to be something major to cause James to raise his wand when he was still underage.

"James! Stop!" Sirius said quickly, not acknowledging Remus' presence as he rushed forward to grab his friend's wand hand. "Don't do this, it's not worth it! My bitchy -cousin- isn't worth it!" he said, hoping to console his friend somewhat as he kept a firm grip on his friend's fist. He completely shut down, however, when he noticed Remus standing there. His earlier thoughts rushed to his head, mixing with what was going on now. It was a hard thing to keep his grip on James' hand steady.

Lily looked at Remus about to question why he had left but she stopped as she saw James and Sirius with Bellatrix going at it outside. She shook her head and helped Peter up. Looking out the window again, she saw James point his wand at Bellatrix and she stopped cold. He wouldn't dare use magic out of school, would he?
"Peter...will you be alright? I'll be back, promise." she said quickly to him before heading outside and helped Sirius lower James' wand.
"What are you doing?" she said, hissing at James, holding his wrist firmly, "You know you can't use magic out of school. What's going on anyways?" She looked from James to Sirius to Bellatrix to Remus and back to James.

Post by Rabastan Lestrange on Aug 4, 2007 16:15:27 GMT -5
ooc; wrote some not-that-amazing intro and decided to join. -grins-
No doors slammed shut and no bells rang about when this young man entered the scene. A messy mess of black hair, which obviously had no order in it, since it was messy, was suddenly visible in the crowd. Deep chocolate eyes regarded the word from under sleeks of hair forming a fringe, which reached past his eyes, nearly succeeding with hiding a pair of dark eyebrows.
Rabastan Lestrange was basically doing nothing in the Diagon Alley. The house-elves were shopping his stuff with his mother, and he was only supposed to find a few books he would need for the school year. That couldn’t be too hard, now could it?
So it happened that the young man at the age of fifteen strolled down the street - in black jeans creased around his legs and a black button-up shirt clinging to his slender torso, a wallet in his back pocket and a and sticking up from the other – at the very moment when this shouting reached him. He clearly made out the words, and quickly found the temptation to have a look… Oh, he might even find some friends there!
One word indicated that, anyway. The word was Mudblood. And how right wasn’t he?
Rabastan found his place beside Bellatrix, appearing there smoothly as if he had apparated, though he hadn’t. He was simply good at appearing where you didn’t want him. Anyway, Bella was starting to look a bit outnumbered and… well… He wouldn’t mind having a chat with the woman his brother clearly had at least a little interest in… not to mention… oh well, we’ll leave that to the privacy of his mind.
“Oi, what’s up with the blood-traitors?” he asked loudly, not caring about the fact he didn’t know them too well. He knew Bella, after all... and her wrecked cousin Black… he had played with his brother Regulus as a kid… sometimes. “There’s a problem… no?” He raised an eyebrow that disappeared beneath his messy hair, a cold grin then spreading over his admittedly good-looking features as he turned to Bellatrix. “Hey Bellatrix, these your friends?” he asked, nodding towards the group of Gryffindors, then ‘suddenly’ noticing Lily. “A Mudblood! Don’t tell me these are your friends, Bella, please?”
His expression would tell anyone he really didn't think they were her friends; after all, she was too good for those.
The always as loud Rabastan had clearly entered the scene.

ooc || Wow. I need to catch up. ^^
bic || Bellatrix had let out a mild and sarcastic laugh as James had apparently taken the toll of standing up for Lily Evans, the Black girl cackling slightly but then shutting up as Potter had lifted the wand to her throat, snapping her mouth tightly shut as she just snarled at him, remaining deathly silent for a moment or two longer before she shook her head, a satisfied grin across her face.
"Listen to your friends, James Potter. Am I really worth it?" she asked tauntingly, looking at the Gryffindors before turning her head at hearing a loud voice enter into the commotion, the newcomer's presence beside her grabbing her attention as she lifted a hand and hastily pushed the wand away from her neck, not once taking her eyes off of the 'blood-tratiors' as Rabastan Lestrange had so wonderfully put it.
"I can promise you that, Rabastan," the Slytherin girl commented quickly, heatedly looking back towards Lily Evans with a disgusted shake of her head. "There is not the proper amount of money on the entire face of the earth that could have me associating harmoniously with a Mudblood and the likes of the Marauders," she hissed. She felt safer with Rabastan Lestrange standing by her side, pride swelling up in her at a fellow Slytherin appearing. Especially a Lestrange.
